This competition forms part of The Link, Airlink’s program dedicated to identifying and supporting bright young talent.
Previous storytelling publications were exclusive to members of The Link (“Linkers”). This year, the opportunity has been extended to invite entries from a wider community of young storytellers.

Your Challenge
Write an original short story inspired by air travel and Africa.
You could include:
- Exciting destinations
- Wildlife encounters
- Unexpected adventures
- Interesting passengers
- Magical moments or discoveries
Let your imagination soar!
What to do
- Write your story (maximum 500 words)
- Make sure it includes:
- An Airlink flight or travel experience
- An Airlink destination in Africa
- Complete the entry form and upload your story and photo
- Submit before 30 August 2026
Who can enter
This competition is open to ages 10–18
Entries will be judged in these age groups:
- 10–12
- 13–15
- 16–18
A little guidance (by age)
If you’re 10–12:
Have fun with your ideas!
Think about:
- Who is your main character?
- What exciting or funny thing happens?
- How does your adventure end?
A big imagination is better than perfect spelling!
If you’re 13–18:
Challenge yourself to build a strong story:
- Create an interesting plot or twist
- Bring your setting to life
- Make your characters memorable
Make it something people will love to read!
A few important rules
- One entry per person
- Your story must be your own original work
- Maximum length: 500 words
- All required details must be completed when entering
If you’re under 18, make sure you have permission from a parent or guardian.
Entries won’t be accepted if:
- The story is not original
- The word limit is exceeded
- The entry is incomplete
- The theme or requirements aren’t followed
- The content is inappropriate
- More than one entry is submitted
